UPDATE: BRINGATRAILER.COM AUCTION NOVEMBER 2025

This 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce was acquired by the current owner’s father in 1963 and has been fitted with a 1.6L twin-cam inline-four as well as a five-speed manual transmission. It was sent to The Giulietta Studio in Lake Bluff, Illinois, for recommissioning work in 2024 that included refinishing the exterior, adjusting the dual Weber carburetors, servicing the brakes, and more as detailed below. Finished in red with a black soft top over black upholstery, the car rides on 15″ steel wheels paired with finned drum brakes and Koni shocks at all four corners. This Giulietta Spider Veloce is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Illinois with the removed engine and transmission along with a tool kit, correspondence from Archivio Storico Alfa Romeo, service records, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The Pininfarina-styled bodywork was repainted red a number of years ago and underwent paint correction in preparation for the sale. The car wears a replacement black convertible top, and further details include a chrome-finished tripartite grille, trim, and bumpers along with fintail-style quarter panels. A tonneau cover is included in the sale.

The 15″ Borrani-style steel wheels feature Alfa Romeo–branded hubcaps and are mounted with 155-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Work since 2024 has involved servicing the finned drum brakes with replacement lines, hoses, and hydraulic cylinders.

The seats are trimmed in black upholstery with red piping and are accompanied by a heater, crank windows, and lap belts.

The twp-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation that consists of an 8k-rpm tachometer with an inset oil-pressure gauge flanked by a 140-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 50k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.6L twin-cam inline-four is said to have been sourced from a later 1600 Veloce model and was installed under previous ownership. Work since 2024 is said to have involved cleaning and adjusting the dual Weber carburetors as well as replacing the upper oil pan gasket, spark plugs, and ignition wires.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a retrofitted five-speed manual transmission. The car is further equipped with an IMASAF exhaust system.

Correspondence from Archivio Storico Alfa Romeo received in 2003 notes that chassis AR149504198 was sold new to the Hoffman Motor Car Company of New York in July 1958. Additional records are cataloged in the gallery.

The removed 1.3L twin-cam inline-four engine and four-speed manual transmission will accompany the car along with a tool kit that can be viewed in the gallery.
