HISTORY:

My wife and I are selling our 1958 Alfa Giulietta Spider Veloce. We bought it out of a barn about 10 years ago expecting some serious effort to get it running and driveable, but to our surprise, after a few hours work to check out its condition and prepare it for recommissioning, we were able to get it started and running. We were excited to find that the engine was original to the car and that the body was in very good condition. After repairing the brakes and a few other basics, we were able to enjoy it for a couple of years without any restoration. After confirming the production date and colors (red with black interior) we even had a 50th birthday party for it on August 30th, 2008 that was attended by a number of our friends and Alfisti.

Since then we’ve attended to a number of other needs including:
• Replaced all brake cylinders and master cylinder
• Clean and seal fuel tank and replace soft fuel lines
• Body stripped to bare metal for repaint. There was some work to repair dents in the grill area. Also, although the rocker panels were in good condition someone had previously drilled large holes, which could only have been to inspect the inner rocker panels, which were also fine. We replaced the outer rocker panels. We found two very old repairs, a small patch in the passenger floor and another in the trunk behind the driver’s side wheel well. Otherwise the body is very solid.
• The body was painted with enamel to most closely match the original paint. The color is slightly off from the original red, and has orange peel.
• Chrome was repaired and straightened as necessary, then plated to a high standard by a shop in Indianapolis – I wish I could remember the name
• Repairs were made to the top frame and a new top is scheduled for installation this week
• The windshield was replaced.

The car starts, runs and drives nicely. The engine is strong and the original tunnel case transmission shifts smoothly. It currently has 40DCOE carbs mounted but the original 40DCO3 carbs, manifolds and associated hardware are available. When we bought the car our intention was to make it a nice driver and that is how it is now. It is not a concours car but would be a very good basis for one as it is the desirable short wheelbase Giulietta Veloce, very hard to find in this condition.

We are selling because we just have too many cars and want to simplify a bit. We don’t have the time to enjoy them all so it’s time for it to go to someone who can fully appreciate it. I am posting it on the BB before placing it on ebay or bringatrailer. Asking price is $70,000. Located in Louisville, KY
