PREVIOUS OWNERS: HYMAN LTD. CLASSIC CARS, DR. B. ROSEN, NY
HISTORY:
As shown on the HYMAN LTD website: At the 1957 Turin Auto Show Alfa Romeo unveiled the stunning futuristic Giulia Sprint Speciale. Penned by Franco Scaglione for Bertone the S.S. was intended for racing and featured a slick bumperless aerodynamic alloy body with lightweight plexiglass windows. The Giulias 1300cc drivetrain remained largely standard but was updated with Weber 40 DCOE3 carburetors and a sports exhaust. The slippery svelte body was an evolution of Scagliones outrageous B.A.T. concept cars from earlier in the 1950s.Standard production Sprint Speciales gained road trim such as bumpers proper glass windows and creature comforts transforming the SS into a junior GT car. It was the passionate drivers alternative to a Porsche 356. For 1963 Alfa Romeo updated their Giulietta line and most significant among the mechanical improvements were front disc brakes and a 800 cc engine now making 112 horsepower in Sprint Veloce specification. The new car was called Giulia and the Sprint Speciale now boasted increased performance and comfort a more elegantly trimmed interior and better braking capabilities. The Giulia SS did not achieve much great success on the race tracks of the world but its stunning looks and lively performance make it one of the most collectible of all post-war Alfa Romeos. This Giulia S.S. has been extensively restored leaving no nut screw or bolt unturned. Finished in utterly gorgeous deep blue paint over a sumptuous tan leather cockpit it is in truly wonderful condition. Panel fit is exquisite body work and paint are arrow-straight and the bright work is nearly perfect. The cabin is trimmed in beautiful tan leather with tan carpets and contrasting binding. Sitting in the drivers seat you face a beautiful alloy steering wheel and optional plexiglass bug shield. Under the hood the classic Alfa Romeo 800cc twin-cam engine is outstandingly detailed and a joy to look at. While the restoration is not brand new it was done to an extremely high standard which is still very much evident today. This is essentially a former concours car that has since been driven and enjoyed. It is ideally suited for tours rallies and is still very showable. Alfa Romeos of this era are some of the best drivers cars of the period and the rarity and iconic styling of the Giulia Sprint Speciale make it one of the best choices for historic touring and rallying.

AS SHOWN ON THE AUTO SPORT DESIGN WEBSITE:
An older restored, this Sprint Speciale is well-known in Alfa circles. It was restored to very high standard, leaving no screw or bolt unturned. It is still in concours condition throughout and drives as good as it looks. I (Tom Papadopoulos) recently enjoyed an 80 miles run from East Hampton to the dealership in this Alfa and can personally attested to its being superb in every way. This Alfa will be at home both on the road and concours lawn.

From the elegantly trimmed interior to lively performance to exquisite Bertone design, these Alfa Sprint Speciales have become one of the most collectible and desirable post-war Alfa Romeos in the market today.
