According to Marco Fazio the director of the Automobilismo Storico this original Veloce Spider chassis number AR1495.11669 with engine number AR00106.00962 was manufactured on September 5, 1960 and sold June 9, 1961 to Hoffman Motor Car Co in New York. The original colors were white, with red or black interiors. An impressive documentation file is included with the sale. According to the original sales order the car was sold new by Stoddard Imported Cars, Inc. on June 6, 1961 to John B. Stinger of Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Stinger retained the car until the late 1960's. In 1973 John B. Stinger appraised the car and sold it for the second owner to a Richard Bube JR. also from Louisville. Then in the early 1980's the car was spotted by Gregory Akens, behind Grand Prix Motors. The car had been sitting for years collecting dust and Gregory made a deal to buy it from Mr. Bube. By 1989 Akens decided to part with the car and sold it to an Alfred Phillips also a Louisville resident. Alfred would go on to service and enjoy the car for many years. During its entire Louisville, Kentucky residency this charming Veloce was always in caring hands and has remained completely original and unrestored other than a repaint long ago over the original paint.
Of important mention, the floors, underside, and trunk area completely solid throughout and still retain all of the factory body number stampings. At some point a Sprint GT engine # AR00502*20353 was fitted and is performing well. The complete matching numbers engine #AR 00106.00962 is included with the sale. Overall this is a great and honest Giulietta Veloce Spider ideal for touring and rally events as well as preservation. The mechanicals aspects are great with the tight feel that these cars are known for. Additionally all electrical items are working properly including lights, gauges, horn, radio, and wipers.
