UPDATE: PADUA FINARTE AUCTION OCTOBER 2019

Model
The Giulietta series was particularly fortunate. Presented for the first time in 1955, it was seen by the press as a real miracle: it was the Gran Turismo symbol of the Italian economic renaissance, capable of combining power and daily usability together with ease of maintenance. Curiously launched on the market initially as an elegant coupe and then as a sedan, the Giulietta quickly became the Girlfriend of Italy, due to its beauty and reference performance. Immediately the gentlemen drivers began to appreciate and take advantage of its proverbial road holding which, combined with the great engine power, allowed this car to dominate in the class up to 1300cc, in the Tourism category of the European speed championships. With the Giulietta the "desire for speed" it became contagious, first with the excellent elaborations of "wizards" like Facetti and Conrero, and then flowed into the magnificent creations of the bodywork of Zagato and Bertone. The race for the 200 hours had begun: Alfa Romeo technicians began a series of studies to get the most out of a car derived from the series. The Alfa Romeo, in 1957 decided to present a very special, but mass-produced model: the Giulietta Sprint Speciale, equipped with a special aerodynamic bodywork. Franco Scaglione, thanks to the studies and experience made with the BAT berlinette, was able to model a very streamlined bodywork characterized by a low and sharp muzzle. Assembled on the short frame of the Giulietta Spider, it had a cx of only 0.28, which allowed the SS to reach the magical threshold of 200 km per hour; a cx that has not been passed for more than twenty years. The final production version, type 101.20, had steel doors but retained the aluminum hoods of the first specimens; compared to these, the front "muzzle" was higher, there were bumpers in front and behind and there was, albeit minimal, sound insulation. The twin-shaft engine was in its most powerful version, with about 100 hp of power. The Giulietta Sprint Speciale remained in production until 1962, when it was replaced by the Giulia Sprint Speciale, which remained in production until 1965. albeit minimal, sound insulation. The car
The 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, chassis no. AR 101.20 * 00687 *, is a completely restored car, not recently, and it is in impeccable condition. The bodywork is beautifully painted in the traditional red color of the sporty Alfa Romeo. Inside, the seat and panel covers are practically perfect, in gray fabric and red vinyl leather, with leather straps for luggage. The roof sky, preserved, does not show tears. In the dashboard, the complete original Veglia instrumentation. All the details and chrome are in excellent condition. The steering wheel has the particularity of the double button in the center: for the flashing of the headlights and for the horn. Driving impresses the exuberant performance and generosity of the (all in all) small engine. The achievable speed is almost incredible, for a standard 1300 cc at the time, but above all it affects the remarkable road holding and the agility given by the short wheelbase. Even the brakes, although with four drums, but with generous and finned dimensions, are effective. The 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, chassis no. AR 101.20 * 00687, is in its second registration; born with Turin plates, since 1982 it is Padua. Provided with ASI certification, registered in the Alfa Romeo Italian Register, it is complete with the correct engine and exhaustive documentation on its past. frame no.
