Seller's description This Alfa Romeo is a 1959 Giulietta Spider Veloce. The current owner , my husband, purchased it in April 1972. The original 1300cc Veloce engine and 4 speed transmission had been replaced with a 1600cc Veloce engine and 5 speed transmission. The Iowa seller originally planned to build the Giulietta to race in the Midwest in a class like what now would be called Street Modified. His plans plans changed, deciding to race a 1750 cc Duetto instead. The Giulietta had 32,700 miles on it when it was titled in Iowa in June 1973. The Alfa Romeo records indicate the serial number on the 1600cc Veloce engine would have gone into a 1962 or later Giulia Spider Veloce or a 1963 to 1966 Giulia Sprint Special. The engine evidently came from a salvaged titled Giulia Spider Veloce with about 10,000 miles on it. My husband installed the engine and transmission into the 1959 Giulietta, sorted the car for inspection and title. We both drove the car occasionally in fair weather. The Giulietta ran exceptionally well and was great fun to drive. The car had 33,977 miles on the odometer when we stopped driving it in late 1976. The "dream project car" will hopefully be restored by a new ALFA LOVER owner!!!! In the gallery you will see many additional pictures rom previous posts.
